Roger Gene VanDam

Roger Gene VanDam, age 65, of Shipshewana, IN passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022 at his residence.  Mr. VanDam was born on June 12, 1957 in Sturgis, MI to Henry Lucas and Elsie Elaine (LeValley) VanDam.  Roger graduated from Colon High School in Colon, MI.  On November 20, 1993, he married his wife of nearly 30 years, Karin Hewitt in Howe, IN.  He worked as a pressman for Americraft Carton INC in Sturgis, MI for 35 years.  Roger was an outdoors enthusiast.  He loved fishing and hunting, camping, and riding countless hours on his Harley.  Roger or "Kickstand" as they called him was involved with prison ministry for over 10 years.  He would travel to several prisons on his Harley and share God's word.  Roger was a loving family man who was compassionate and never failed to provide.  

The family would like to express their gratitude to LaGrange County 911 Dispatch, Shipshewana Fire Deptartment, LaGrange County Police Officers, and to Hess Funeral Home and Cremation Services for their care and assistance.

Wife, Karin VanDam of Shipshewana, IN.
Daughter, Tanya Beverly of Topeka, IN.
Grandson, Taylor Yoder of Indianapolis, IN.
Grandson, Johnathan Beverly of Topeka, IN.
Sister, Verna (David) Hall of Colon, MI.
Twin Brother, Robert (Janet) VanDam of Colon, MI.
Many Nieces and Nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Royce Ann Deerem and brother-in-law, Don Deeren.  

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 2:00pm at Living Hope Fellowship Church, 600 North Nottawa Street, Sturgis, MI 49091.
