Phillip “Phil” Duane Stewart, age 84, of LaGrange, IN passed away peacefully at his residence. Mr. Stewart was born on November 24, 1936 in LaGrange, IN to Orville Earl and Rose Ilean (Witham) Stewart. Phil attended LaGrange High School. On June 7, 1958, he married his wife of 62 years Sharon M. Adams in Stroh, IN. Phil worked in construction for 30 years. He retired from Wells Cargo as a welder after 23 years of dedicated service. Phil was a member and a Deacon at The Church of the True God in Wolcottville, IN. He loved to sing and was best known for his quote, “I love you and Jesus loves you more.” Phil was a people person, did not know a stranger, loved making you laugh, and was a celebrity at Walmart. He loved his five daughters, grandchildren, and family. Phil was a lifetime fan of Chevys and was never late and always early to anything he went to.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents, 3 grandchildren, siblings: Rose Marie Stewart, Paul Richard Stewart, Benny Stewart, and Willy Stewart, and sister-in-law, Diane Stewart.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 1:00pm with visitation two hours prior from 11:00am-1:00pm at Church of the True God, 5685 South State Road 3, Wolcottville, IN 46795.
Burial will take place following the funeral service at English Prairie Cemetery.
Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Kenneth Beverly.
