Mattie Marie Wilson

Mattie Marie Wilson, age 23, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away on June 25, 2023 in Fort Wayne, IN.  Miss Wilson was born on May 13, 2000 in Bluffton, IN to Michael L. and Traci (Waters) Wilson.  She graduated from New Tech Academy in Fort Wayne and then continued her education at Barton College in Wilson, NC.  Mattie was outgoing and made friends everywhere she graced.  This gift allowed her to excel in her high school job at J.C. Penny as a sales associate.  Mattie was also extremely passionate about taking care of people.  This passion reflected her professional life as she worked for Lutheran Hospital as a Patient Care Technician for a few years.  Her care of people led her to recently obtain her CNA and begin working for Canterbury Nursing Home.  Mattie had a strong work ethic and while working for Canterbury Nursing Home, she also was employed full time at Amazon.  Mattie was very active and loved to play volleyball, cheerlead, perform in track and field, and gymnastics while in High School.  During her time at Barton College, she played volleyball and walked on the LaCrosse team.  She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, swimming, camping, and skating.  Mattie was well known for her Tik Tok dances and for making funny videos of her family members, especially her father while he was sleeping.  Mattie being the baby of 7 children loved her family and was extremely family oriented.  She also enjoyed soaking up all the quality time with her own canine child, Rusty.  Mattie had a special aura that could make anyone smile and she certainly didn’t know a stranger.  She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

Sister, Joey Stanford of Fort Wayne, IN.

Brother, Mytrael Wilson of Anderson, IN.

Special Niece, Te’Asia Wimes of Fort Wayne, IN.

Nephews, Josiah Kelsaw Jakobe Oldham, Jasper Black, and Andrew Gibson all of Fort Wayne, IN.

Canine companion, Rusty of Fort Wayne, IN.  

Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Mattie was preceded in death by her grandfather, Michael Waters, grandfather, Thomas Broyles, great-grandmother, Annie McDuffy Lee, and great-grandfather, Richard E. Lee. 

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 2:00pm with visitation 1 hour prior from 1:00pm-2:00pm at Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1151 Francis Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46803.  

Burial will take place at Lindenwood Cemetery following the funeral services.

Memorial donations may be directed to the family for final expenses.
