Keum Ja "Lee" Dunkel

Keum Ja (Lee) Dunkel, age 86, of LaGrange, IN, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Life Care Center of LaGrange. Ms. Dunkel was born on June 21, 1937 in South Korea. She graduated from High School in South Korea. After leaving South Korea, she met the true love of her life, Daniel E. Dunkel and the two were married at Fort Benning, GA. Daniel passed away at 36 years old and Lee was loyal to her husband until her final breath. Lee worked for Coachmen for many years before retiring. She loved to crochet, play Bingo, and make trips to the casino. Lee also enjoyed cooking, gardening, and mushroom hunting. She was very loving and family oriented. Her loyalty to her husband and loved ones never was at question and her heart always did the right thing under any circumstance. Her independent attitude, expressed opinions, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew and cared for her.

Survivors include:
Granddaughter, Stephanie Dunkel and John Wainwright of LaGrange, IN.
Great-grandson, Caiden Bishop of LaGrange, IN.
1 Great-granddaughter on the way.
Sister, Song Ye Marshall of LaGrange, IN.
Brother, Jae Young Lee of South Korea.
4 Nephews all of South Korea.

Lee was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Richard Dunkel, 1 sister, and 1 brother.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024 from 11:00am-1:00pm at Hess Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 603 South Detroit Street, LaGrange, IN 46761.

Burial will follow the visitation at Brighton Chapel Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
