Kathleen (Hall) O'Dell

Kathleen O’Dell, age 92, of LaGrange, IN passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at her residence.  Kathleen was born on June 14, 1930 in Deer Creek, Carroll County, IN to John W. and Rinda (Cooper) Hall, and moved to LaGrange, at the age of 9. 

She married her husband of 65 years, William Thomas O’Dell of July 31, 1948 in Defiance, OH.  They lived in Kendallville for several years, moving to LaGrange in 1960.

She worked in the insurance industry for 35 years.  She retired from Howe-LaGrange Agency in 1993 and went back to work for Yoder Insurance Agency in 1997, retiring the second time in 2008. 

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Sturgis, MI and served as a faithful member for 48 years.

Her hobbies included sewing and crocheting and after retiring, she learned to quilt.  Her passion was genealogy and she spent many hours searching for members of her family tree.  She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and extended family. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 1 grandchild, 4 brothers, Johnathan Hall, Francis Hall, Orie Hall, and Roy Hall; 1 sister, Darleen Hall Kocher; 3 half-brothers, Cecil Hall, Jim Hall, Eldon McKenzie, and 4 half-susters, Verlia Hall Clevenger, Barbara Hall Beck, Opal Hall Gambill, and Margaret McKenzie Fannin. 

Surviving are 4 children, William Lee (Patty) O’Dell of Washington Terrace, UT; Thomas Lynn (Pam) O’Dell of Grand Lake, OK; Peggy Lynnette Iddings of LaGrange, IN;  and Kelly Sue (Newell) Franks of Sturgis, MI.  Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 10, 2022 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Hess Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 603 South Detroit Street, LaGrange, IN 46761.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 11:00am at Hess Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange, IN.

Officiating the services will be Bishop Karl Ritchie.
