John Edward Mahon, age 71, of Howe, IN passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at his residence. Mr. Mahon was born on April 13, 1949 in Williamson, West Virginia to Carl and Ocie (Duty) Mahon. He graduated from Burch High School in Delbarton, West Virginia. On November 7, 1969, he married the love of his life Linda Sue Maynard in Delbarton, West Virginia. John worked as a coal miner for many years before moving to Indiana in 1989. Once he and his family settled in Indiana, he worked for Foster Woods Cabinet Shop and also in the RV manufacturing industry. John had a passion for old cars. He focused his life around his family and grandchildren. There are several accounts of him making sure his grandchildren didn’t go without, spoiling them, and showing his big heart. He enjoyed chewing his “backer” (Tobacco), being a jokester and lighting up the room, and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and loved ones.

John was preceded in death by both parents, 2 children; John Mahon Jr., Carol Mahon, and 6 siblings; Otis, Perry, Buford, Michael, Dave Mahon, and Emma Jean Combs.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2021 from 2:00pm-5:00pm at Hess Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 603 South Detroit Street, LaGrange, IN 46761.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 1, 2021 at 11am at Hess Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 603 South Detroit Street, LaGrange, IN 46761.
Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange, IN.
Officiating the funeral services will be Pastor Jim Snyder.
