James "Curtis" Dameron Obituary

James C. “Curtis” Dameron, age 42, of Wolcottville, IN passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2020.  Mr. Dameron was born on July 9, 1978 in Welch, West Virginia to Lacy Dameron Jr. and Maxine (Scott) Oswalt.   In 1997, he graduated from Prairie Heights High School.  Curtis served his town and community honorably as a police reserve in Wolcottville, IN for 11 years.  From 2014-2020, he owned and operated Curtis Towing.  Curtis was a jack-of-all-trades and could fix anything without looking at the instruction manual.  He also was a skilled mechanic and welder.  Curtis loved racing.  He started his racing career with go karts and then evolved into asphalt short track racing.  Curtis enjoyed towing vehicles, hunting, fishing, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.  He always smelled good, had his hair looking nice, chasing tail, and was granted the nickname “Captain save a hoe.”  Curtis cherished spending time with 3 children and fur baby, Jax.  He seemed to struggle to answer to the name “Dad,” so his kids called him “Stanlee,” and then he would respond.  There was not a person Curtis would not help.  He was constantly going above and beyond for his family, friends, and community.  The town of Wolcottville even labeled him as the man with “The key to the city.”

Daughter, Candis (Stephanie Brown) Dameron.
