Edward “Ed” Joseph McKowen, age 78, of Wolcottville, IN passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at his residence. Mr. McKowen was born on September 14, 1942 in Fort Wayne, IN at home to Paul Joseph and Deloras I (Spahr) McKowen. In 1961, Ed graduated from the last graduating class of Wolcottville High School in Wolcottville, IN. On February 25, 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Darlene Sue Sweet at Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church in Wolcottville. Ed worked for Dana in the axle division, in production, and as a test driver for axles before retiring after 30 years of dedicated service. Ed was an incredibly talented athlete and excelled in basketball and track. He enjoyed coaching his children’s little league programs. Ed enjoyed stamp collecting and has collected a vast array of different stamps throughout many years of collecting. He loved fishing, hunting, and enjoyed tying flies. Ed was a skilled woodworker and spent several tedious hours refinishing furniture and cabinets. He was a fun loving man who didn’t know a stranger.

Daughter, Tina L. (Troy) Sams of Big Fork, Montana.
Son, Steven E. (Amy) McKowen of Wolcottville, IN.
Daughter, Sherry R. Reed of Winterhaven, FL.
14 Grandchildren.
6 Great-grandchildren.
Sister, Sharon (Wayne) Cook of Wolcottville, IN.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Jeanean Smith and Joann McKowen.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 1:00pm with calling 2 hours prior from 11am-1:00pm at Hess Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 603 South Detroit Street, LaGrange, IN 46761.
Burial will take place at Woodruff Cemetery.
Officiating the funeral services will be Pastor Jim Taylor.
