Clyde E. Hawkins

Clyde E. Hawkins, age 84, of Howe, IN passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at his home.  Mr. Hawkins was born on May 20, 1938 in Tyronza, AR to Elmer Lee and Artie Lee (Smith) Hawkins.  On September 6, 1957, he married his wife of 65 years Louvina Maureen Russell in Goshen, IN.  Clyde was a hard-working man all his life.  He began his working life as a sharecropper in cotton fields when he was a kid with his family.  From 1959 to 2008, he worked for the former Martin oil/ Steel City Truck Stop in Howe, IN.  Throughout his 50 years of employment, he wore many hats including, supervisor, manager, and district manager.  Clyde’s favorite past time was working.  He was an outdoorsman who liked, hunting, tending to his yard work, and planting trees.  Clyde also enjoyed playing solitaire and bowling.  He was an avid baseball fan and would never miss one of his grandchildren’s games.  Occasionally, Clyde would go to Four Wins Casino and New Buffalo Casino and shoot for the jackpots.  Clyde loved his family and valued all the precious moments he had with them.

Daughter, Elaine and Mike Lynch of Howe, IN.

Son, Wade Hawkins of Toledo, OH.

Daughter, Sunni and Doug Dubsky of Las Vegas, NV.

Son, James Hawkins of Howe, IN.

Grandchildren, Dana M. and Sheldon Smith, Chad E. Shafer, Annabelle Hawkins, Cody Murphy, James E. Hawkins, Ella Hawkins, Jamison Todd, Harley Dubsky, Dillon Suarez-Hawkins, and Maya Suarez-Hawkins.

Great-grandchildren, Jade and Andrew Brown, Kayla Smith, and Zachary Smith.

Great-great grandchildren, Elise Ada Kay Brown.

Brother, Dean and Flora Hawkins of California.

Brother, Jim and Jeanne Hawkins of California.

Sister, Levita Halsey of California.

Sister, Darlene Barber of California.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Samuel Augustus Cain Hawkins, and siblings, Edward Hawkins, Dorothy Wright, Bobby Hawkins, Sandra Russell, and Janette Hawkins.

There will be a celebration of life held later in Clyde’s honor.
