Thomas “Tom” Paul Biggs, passed away on January 18, 2026, in Elkhart, IN surrounded by his family. He was born to Lloyd Biggs Jr. and Anna Cook-Bennett on October 12, 1952 in Mishawaka, IN.
His parents; his partner, Kathy Melchi; sisters, Carol Ann Parker and Peggy Joyce Biggs; as well as a grandson, Ethan, all preceded him in death.
He is survived by his children: Sherilyn (Randy) Lackey of LaGrange, IN; Tony Biggs of Three Rivers, MI; Angela (Dave) Ardoin of Middlebury, IN; Wendy Biggs-Ultz of Bronson, MI; Stacy Gorbutt of Coldwater, MI; and Christine Biggs of Kokomo, IN. In addition, he is survived by 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Tom is also survived by a special friend, Gordon Neil Melchi.
If you were lucky enough to know Tom, you knew he loved the outdoors. He didn’t have to do anything outdoors; he just loved being there. Fishing, mushroom hunting, and just wandering in the woods brought him peace and lots of great stories. He had a witty sense of humor from which he would draw many phrases that would make you stop in your tracks just to laugh at the hilarity of them! If you heard him say, “The crazy thing about that is…” or “One time, me and a buddy…” you knew a great retelling of a part of his life was about to occur. We will cherish the stories we can recall and maybe make a few of our own if we are lucky enough.
We will whisper to the wind his name so he may forever fly among the trees, float in the stream and nourish the earth he so loved being near.
Thanks, Dad, for giving us life! We will put our ear to nature to hear your voice again!
Hess Funeral Home and Cremation Services will be conducting the cremation services. Memorial service details will be shared at a later date.
