Sarah Jane Hume, age 72, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Parkview LaGrange.  She was born on June 7, 1950 to Carl and Dorothy Murphy.  Sarah graduated from Lima High School and then continued her education at Central Michigan University where she obtained her degree.  She worked within education as a vice principal for many years.  Sarah was instrumental in developing the alternative education programs for Three Rivers, Portage, and Comstock Michigan Schools.  After retiring from education, Sarah followed her lifelong passion of working in a nursery at Romence Gardens.  Sarah loved living on South Twin Lake, feeding her birds, collecting rocks, working on the house, and cutting firewood with her husband.  She was loving and was there for those in need.

Survivors include:

Husband, Rick Hume.

Daughter, Sarah Elizabeth and her children Chase, Steven, and Elijah.

Son, Johnathan and his son Johnny.

Step-daughter, Emily and her children Ricky and Margaret.

Step-son, Eric.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents and brother, William Murphy.

There will be a memorial service in Sarah's honor at a later date.
