Sandra "Sandy" Lynn Burkhead

Sandra “Sandy” Lynn Burkhead, age 60, of LaGrange, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, May 29, 2026.

Sandy was born on August 15, 1965, in Kendallville, Indiana, to Jerry Wayne Albaugh and Vona Mable (Buckland) Burkhead. She graduated from Lakeland High School in 1984. On June 2, 2015, she married the love of her life, Jim J. Burkhead, in LaGrange.

A dedicated and hardworking woman, Sandy spent 20 years employed at Lake Park Industries in Shipshewana and 10 years with EXOS in Howe. At the time of her passing, she was working in customer service at Marathon in Sturgis, Michigan.

Sandy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved spending time outdoors, kayaking, and riding on the back of her husband’s motorcycle. She enjoyed shopping and making trips to Michigan City in search of great deals at the outlet mall. Above all, Sandy cherished her family. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world, and she was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Sandy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her mother, Vona Burkhead; her sons, Daryl (Laura) Goody, Jeremy (Veronica) Goody, and Keith Caldwell; her daughters, Chelsea (Brett) Brown and Rachel (Cory) Smith; her grandchildren, Kalysta Shepherd, Kayden Goody, Kathryn Goody, Daniel Goody, Renesmee Caldwell, Bailey Brown, Janessa Caldwell, Landon Smith, Lola Smith, Avery Brown, Isaiah Caldwell, Murphy Brown, and Kessler Brown; her sisters, Lisa (John) Good, Vicki (Dave) Houser, and Kim (Allan Gunthrop) Myers; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Wayne Albaugh, and her beloved husband, Jim J. Burkhead.

A funeral service honoring Sandy’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Scott United Methodist Church, 7020 North 675 West, Shipshewana, Indiana 46565. Visitation will take place at the church prior from 12:00pm- 2pm.

Cremation will follow the service. Sandy and her late husband, Jim, will be laid to rest together at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange.

Memorial donations may be directed to the family.
