Michelle "Shelly" A. Apt

Michelle “Shelly” A. Apt, age 62, of Woodburn, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at her residence.

Shelly was born on February 25, 1963, in Bryan, Ohio. She graduated from Wayne Trace High School in 1981 and later earned her associate’s degree from Indiana Tech. From 2007 to 2020, she worked diligently at Lincoln Financial as an Exchange Consultant. She was most recently employed by Hallmark Home Mortgage as a Fee Disclosure Analyst.

Shelly had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and especially enjoyed lake life and lighthouses. She was an avid animal lover who adored her cats and also enjoyed horseback riding. A passionate British history enthusiast, Shelly was also fond of writing. Her loyalty, strong work ethic, and wonderful sense of humor made her a joy to be around, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include:

Sister, Tammy and Kurt Wisnofske.

Brother, Jerry Apt.

Sister, Suzanne Bailey.

Also surviving are 1 niece, 7, nephews, 2 great-nieces, and 1 great-nephew.

Special beloved friend, Kyle and Jessica Hissong.

Special beloved friend, Cindi Rogers.

Shelly was preceded in death by her father, Larry Apt, Stepmother, Ruthanne “Ruthie” Apt, and a great-aunt, Muzzy Apt.

A memorial service will be held in Shelly’s honor on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 3:00pm with visitation one hour prior from 2:00pm-3:00pm at Hess Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 7633 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, IN, 46835.
