James Thomas Springer, age 81, of Sturgis, MI formerly of LaGrange, IN passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023 at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN.  Mr. Springer was born on June 8, 1941 in Morehead, KY to George W. and Lida Mae (Pendland) Springer.  Jim attended High School in Flemingsburg, KY and then served his country honorably with the United States Army.  For nearly 20 years, Jim worked as a driver and salesman for AB Abrasives in Sturgis, MI.  Jim was a member and previously served as Post Commander of the American Legion Post #215 in LaGrange, IN   He also held membership at the Eagles and Moose Lodge in Sturgis, MI.  Jim enjoyed motorcycles, a good drink, and gambling.  He was a talented woodworker and skilled professional painter.

Survivors include:

Sister, Betty Miley of Maysville, KY.

Brother, Ray (Karen) Springer of Kokomo, IN.

4 Nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mildred Fox, and brother-in-law, Gus Miley.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at 11:30am with calling one-hour prior from 10:30am-11:30am at Hess Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 603 South Detroit Street, LaGrange, IN 46761.

Burial will take place following the service at Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange, IN.
