Frederick "Fred" Herman Koehlinger

Frederick “Fred” Herman Koehlinger, age 74, of Markle, IN, passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at his home.

Fred was born on February 7, 1952, in Fort Wayne, IN, to the late Frederick Henry and Marjorie "Margo" (Ness) Koehlinger. After graduating from high school, he pursued further education at Ivy Tech in Fort Wayne. Fred served his country honorably with the United States Navy, touring on the S.S. Intrepid during the Vietnam Era.   On March 12, 1988, he married the love of his life, Pamela Prater, in Fort Wayne. 

For 30 years, Fred was employed by Dana in the Spicer Axle Division. He also owned and operated a lawn care business in Florida for several years. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Fred was an avid Komet hockey fan and loved everything about racing, from slot cars and NASCAR to attending races in person. He also cheered for the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana University.

Fred enjoyed the freedom of riding his motorcycle and cruising at his leisure. He was a proud owner of a German Shepherd, who earned runner-up honors in the Disc Dog Championships. Above all, Fred loved his family deeply and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Spouse, Pamela Koehlinger.

Daughter, Ashley Koehlinger.

Son, Fred Koehlinger.

There are no services planned at this time and cremation will take place upon the family’s wishes.
