Evelyn "Ev" Marie Smallwood, age 74, of LaGrange, IN passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, IN.

A devoted wife to Northern Smallwood for 40 years, she was the mother of Greg (Crystal) Kinney of Arizona, Robert Barnefske of New Haven, IN, and Michelle (Rob) Patrick of Kentucky.  Evelyn had 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren as well.  Her gentle spirit will live on within each of them.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Edna (Williams) Roberts, and a sister, Kim White.

Evelyn retired from Walmart in Kendallville, IN.  She found beauty and purpose in life's simple blessings.  She loved painting, sewing, tending to her flower beds and garden, as well as sharing her gifts with those around her.  Her home was always full of color, creativity, love, and warmth.

Evelyn loved her faith quietly but powerfully, offering kindness, prayers, and helping hands to anyone in need.  She loved attending church when she was well enough to attend.

Animals held a special place in her heart and she treated every creature with the same compassion she gave to her family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at the Church of the True God, 5685 South State Road 3, Wolcottville, IN 46795.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 11:00am at the Church of the True God, 5685 South State Road 3, Wolcottville, IN 46795.

Officiating the services will be Pastor Anthony Hagerman.

Burial will take place following the funeral service at Ontario Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kerby Smith, Kevin Smith, Robert Barnefske, James Jefferies, David McClain, Matthew Smith, and Michael Smallwood.

Memorial donations may be directed to the family to aid in final expenses.
