Eli W. Hochstetler, 79, of LaGrange, district 5-2, died on February 20, 2024 at his residence.  He was born on November 23, 1944 in Elkhart Co to Willis and Katie  (Lehman) Hochstetler.  He was a member of The Old Order Amish Church and lived in the Tri-County area all his life.  He married Fannie Mae Schmucker on April 1, 1965.  She survives.

Also surviving are 8 daughters; Esther (Willis) Schwartz, Holmes County, OH; Laura (Mervin) Whetstone, LaGrange; Emma (Alvin Ray) Miller, Howe; Sara Mae (Elmer) Eash, Howe; Miriam (Mahlon) Bontrager, Ethel MO; Carolyn (Christy) Graber, LaGrange; Vera (Timothy) Miller, Sturgis, MI; Ruby (Ferman) Graber, Shipshewana.  6 Sons; Marvin (Ruby) Miller, LaGrange; Henry (Mary) Bontrager, Hillsboro, WI; Paul (Esther) Hochstetler, Hillsboro, WI; Milton (Loretta) Miller, Nappanee; David (Dorothy) Yoder, East Jordan, MI; John (LeAnna) Hochstetler, LaGrange.  Also surviving are 88 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, 4 brothers, and 5 sisters.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, 3 sisters, 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 4 brothers-in-law, and 1 sister-in-law.

Visitation will be held after 2:00pm on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 and all day Thursday, February 22, 2024 at the Sam Bontrager residence, 2525 East 150 North, LaGrange, IN 46761.  Services will take place on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 9:30am at the same location.
