Cheryl “Sherry” Louise Wilburn, age 80, of Woodburn, IN passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, in Fort Wayne, IN. Sherry was born in Auburn, IN on August 7, 1945, to Wanda and Martin Wasson. She was a Northside High School graduate and worked for more than 40 years as a long-term healthcare worker alongside being a homemaker. On October 31, 1964, in Fort Wayne, Sherry married Larry J. Wilburn, who preceded her in death.
Sherry especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was also an avid reader, often seen reading a Harlequin Romance novel.
Sherry is survived by two sons, Todd (Nancy) Wilburn and Jeff Wilburn; two grandsons, Trent (Alex) Wilburn and Austin (Melanie) Wilburn; and two great-grandsons, Everett Wilburn and Asher Wilburn. Sherry also leaves behind two sisters, Ev (Dave) Braun and Jane Rork; and two brothers, Marty (Amy) Wasson, Ron (Sandi) Wasson, Sister-in-law, Karen and Marvin Reicht Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry Wilburn; a daughter, Stacy Wilburn; one brother, Dick Dillow; and six sisters: Betty Evans, Fran Null, Marcia Spitler, Diane Rabbit, Carol Halligan, and Linda Till.
Visitation will be on Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Hess Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 7633 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, IN.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. with visitation one-hour prior from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 1515 Barthold St., Fort Wayne, IN. Burial will be in Lindenwood Cemetery.
Officiating the Mass of Christian Burial will be Father David Ruppert.
