Cheryl L. Blondell, age 73, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Cheryl was born on October 23, 1952, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the late August W. and Hildegard R. (Springer) Blondell. She was a graduate of Concordia Lutheran High School and continued her education at Lutheran School of Nursing, both in Fort Wayne.
Cheryl shared 42 wonderful years with her life partner, Gary J. Becker, with whom she built a life filled with love, friendship, and countless cherished memories. She dedicated more than 40 years of her career to working as an insurance claims specialist, first with Aetna Insurance and later with K&K Insurance.
Cheryl was an active and longtime member of Amvets Post #33 and Fraternal Order of the Eagles Post #248. She had a love for gardening and took great pleasure in decorating her home for Christmas. She especially cherished the companionship of her faithful canine companion, Lucie.
Cheryl was a warm and social person who enjoyed making memories with her family and friends. She loved good conversation, spending time with those she cared about, and enjoying a cold beverage with the people she loved. Her outgoing personality, generous spirit, and genuine love for others made her a special friend to many. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Cheryl is survived by her life partner of 42 years, Gary J. Becker of Fort Wayne, Indiana; her faithful canine companion, Lucie of Fort Wayne, Indiana; her sisters, Lauri Moorer of St. Matthews, South Carolina, and Michelle (Tony) Stimpson of Decatur, Indiana; her niece, Kelli Bennett of North, South Carolina; her nephews, Andrew (Lindsey) Stimpson of Decatur, Indiana, and Nate (Brianna) Stimpson of Decatur, Indiana; and her great-nephews, Colten, Weston, Jaxtin, Barrett, and Graham.
She was preceded in death by her parents, August W. and Hildegard R. (Springer) Blondell.
A memorial service celebrating Cheryl’s life will be held at a later date. Service details will be announced and updated as arrangements are finalized.
