Obituary

Charles "Charlie" "Babe" L. Brown, age 72, of LaGrange, IN passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, IN.  Mr. Brown was born on August 25, 1951, in Kendallville, IN to Leroy and Bertha (Pierce) Brown.  He received his education from Prairie Heights High School in rural LaGrange County.  Babe was a master of several trades and crafts.  He specialized in welding, carpenter work, and was a master truck driver.  He owned and operated his own transportation business for the Amish and never failed to carry around bags of candy for the various family's children he drove for.  Mr. Brown also was exceptional with woodworking and stained-glass projects.  Charlie enjoyed ice fishing, playing rounds of golf, and watching his grandchildren whip around on Honda Motorcycles.  Babe was a selfless giving man with a true heart of gold and absolutely loved and provided for his family and loved ones.  He will be certainly missed.

Survivors include: Son, Mike and Jen Reger of Albion, IN. Daughter, Zabrina Brown of LaGrange, IN. Son, Jedadiah Brown of Clare, MI. Grandchildren, Caleb Kleinhardt, Devin Iavagnilio, Gabe Reger, Claudia Reger, Jacob Reger, and Nicholas Norden. Great-grandchildren, Brooklynn Kleinhardt, Kasch Kleinhardt, Braidynn Kleinhardt, Linkyn Kleinhardt, Charley Kleinhardt, Eva Ramza, and there is another great-grandchild on the way. Brother, Meredith "Butch" and Peggy Brown of Wolcottville, IN. Brother, Carl "Dutch" and Joyce Brown of Fort Wayne, IN. Sister, Rebecca "Peanut" and Terry Shreve of Angola, IN. Brother, Donnie and Vicki Brown of LaGrange, IN.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and 3 siblings: Sandra Brown, Ruby Crider, and David Brown.

Visitation will be held from 12:00pm-2:00pm on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Hess Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 603 South Detroit Street, LaGrange, IN 46761.

Upon Charlie's wishes, cremation will take place following the visitation.

Memorial donations may be directed to the family to aid with final expenses.
