Cathy J. Smallwood, age 68, of LaGrange, IN passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, IN.  Mrs. Smallwood was born on May 11, 1953 in Kendallville, IN to the late Robert and Diane (Sibert) Hamilton.  In 1971, she graduated from Lakeland High School in LaGrange, IN.  Cathy married Alvin "Dale" D. Smallwood on June 29, 1985 in Mongo, IN.  She retired from Life Care in environmental services in LaGrange after 10 years of dedicated service.  Cathy enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, camping, and canoeing.  In her spare time, she would often be found reading or shopping.  She loved Kentucky, the mountains, and traveling to visit.  She was a fan of tiny houses.  Cathy's favorite pastime was spoiling her grandchildren.  She loved her husband, daughters, family and spending as much quality time as she could with them all.

Survivors include: Husband, Dale Smallwood of Mongo, IN. Daughter, Mikala and Justin Yoder of Mongo, IN. Daughter, Natasha and Ethan Fry of Sturgis, MI. Grandchildren, Hayden, Jevin, and Cason Fry all of Sturgis, MI. Canine Companions, Mossy and LuLu. Brother, Craig Treesh of Orland, IN. Brother, Scott and Lucy Hamilton of LaGrange, IN. Brother, Mark and Juanita Hamilton of LaGrange, IN. Many other extended family.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 1:00pm with visitation prior from 11am-1pm at Hess Funeral Home, 603 South Detroit Street, LaGrange, IN 46761.

Burial will take place following the funeral service at Brighton Chapel Cemetery.

Officiating the services will be Rustin Krapfl.

Pallbearers will be David Jenkot, Jeremy Ritchie, Jared Smallwood, Dustin Smallwood, Karl Yoder, and Jeremy Smallwood.

Memorial donations may be directed to Ark Animal Shelter.
