Obituary

Arzie Beatrice Elizabeth Foster, age 83, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Lutheran Hospital. Born on August 24, 1941, in Trenton, TN, she was the daughter of the late Platt and Ora (Williams) Banks. Arzie graduated from Rosenwald High School in Trenton, TN.

For over 25 years, she dedicated her life to caregiving as a Certified Nursing Assistant, serving patients at the VA Hospital in Fort Wayne and later at St. Anne Home and Retirement Community.

A devoted member of Summit City Church of Christ, Arzie spent much of her time assisting with church duties, participating in Bible studies, and striving to lead as many people to Christ as possible.

Arzie was an amazing cook, an avid fisherman, and a country girl at heart. She loved traveling—especially with her church or back home to Tennessee. She was also a passionate fan of WWE wrestling and fast-paced basketball games.

Her generosity and dedication to service were widely recognized. She was honored as a "Hero of Service" by the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority for her lifelong commitment to helping others. She also supported numerous charitable organizations, including Shriner's, Prisoners of War, Mercy Ships, Riley Hospital, and the Paralyzed Veterans of America.

More than anything, Arzie was a mother figure to many of her relatives and extended her love beyond family, always opening her home and heart. She found joy in feeding not just stomachs but also souls, sharing meals and wisdom with anyone willing to learn about the grace of her Savior. Above all, Arzie cherished her son, family, extended family, and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed by her kindness and unwavering love.

Survivors include: Son, Brandon Foster of Fort Wayne, IN. Granddaughter, Ryleigh Foster of Fort Wayne, IN. Sister, Betty Williamson of Trenton, TN. Sister, Barbara Watson of Trenton, TN. Special friends, Andy Young, Rita Faye, Willa White, and Eric Ganaway all of Fort Wayne, IN. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, 9 siblings, Sue Hassel, Aubrey Banks, Platt Banks Jr., Robert Banks, James Banks, Bruce Banks, Camilla Johnson, Louise Wilson, and Bertha Woods, and a special niece, Carolyn Morrison.
